Blazing Cool

On top of a hill overlooking a reservoir, warm in the bright sun, with cool water at the bottom of the canyon.  Not a sound to be heard except the wind.  I could get used to spending more time in a place like this.

There's such a feel of freshness in the clean dry air, a freshness that you only get after a thunderstorm in the Midwest.  Then the air returns to humid and smothering.  There's a closed-in feeling to summer in the Midwest, whereas the west's high and dry atmosphere feels expansive and invigorating.

Maybe it's all in my mind.  But probably not.

Currently the air in Central Illinois is high quality too.
