Blazing Cool

On top of a hill overlooking a reservoir, warm in the bright sun, with cool water at the bottom of the canyon.  Not a sound to be heard except the wind.  I could get used to spending more time in a place like this.

There's such a feel of freshness in the clean dry air, a freshness that you only get after a thunderstorm in the Midwest.  Then the air returns to humid and smothering.  There's a closed-in feeling to summer in the Midwest, whereas the west's high and dry atmosphere feels expansive and invigorating.

Maybe it's all in my mind.  But probably not.

Dawn at The Holy City

Between Cody, WY, and the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park.  This rock formation is called The Holy City because of it's resemblance to the skyline of Jerusalem.

Straight Out Of The Camera

I didn't push the color on this shot; it's just as it came from the camera. The only thing I did was a 10% sharpening after downsizing. This is just one of many reasons I love the clear air and mile-high scenery of the West!

My New Home!

I've been wanting to move to Wyoming ever since the first visit. Finally found a house that fits my budget! A few curtains, a little gravel for the driveway, maybe a small bulldozer - what's not to love?

The Lure Of The Open Road

Ahhh, space!  Now I can breathe.

Stampede

The pronghorn are grazing on the lovely irrigated fields instead of the dry hills.  Aren't they beautiful?  I so want one of these critters.  Almost put a couple in the trunk when I came back from Wyoming . . .

Inclined To Graze

Lake in the Desert

Near Sheridan, Wyoming, is an unexpected lake in the red rock country.  The cows and I had it all to ourselves on a warm summer evening.
