The Road Not Taken

"Two roads diverged in a wood
(well they didn't, really, there was just the one, but it makes a better story if it seems there's a choice, doesn't it?)

and I -
(I and my dog, that pretty much goes without saying; we're always together)

I took the one
(and was propelled down it much faster than I would have preferred, said dog having caught wind of some other critter unwise enough to be out on a freezing cold day)

less traveled by
(well, it was a broad well-maintained road, really, even if it was covered with some darn slippery ice)

And that has made all the difference."
(I should think so!  I mean, it stands to reason it would.  Kind of an anticlimactic ending though, isn't it?  Not at all the big finish I was expecting.)

I just got a letter from the Robert Frost Appreciation Society asking me to tear up my membership card.  Sheesh, everybody's a critic.

My Kind of Golden(-brown) Arches

Bobber Birds

These colorful birds congregate in the trees along rivers, but are rarely found far from water.

The Persistence Of Memory

I thought this reflection of an antique bridge looked like it could have been painted by Dali, or Picasso.

Home Sweet Troll Home

Everyone knows trolls live under bridges.  This is the first I've seen, though, with such a fancy stairway!

Water-Falling Leaves

Indulging my artistic side, one of the few indulgences that's calorie-free.  Here I combined the water flowing over the Hennepin Canal locks with a close-up of Japanese maple leaves.

On The Sixth Day

"And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food."

Ready For His New Year Bath

This is why I adore taking pictures of the horses of the West:  the climate is drier and they don't have the mud to roll around in like Midwestern horses do, so they stay shiny and pretty.   This sweet little Belgian foal will look beautiful some day pulling a cart as part of a team.
