Some people call this fly-over country. I do, myself - and worse! - when the heat and humidity of summer make it unbearable. But on a clear day when the planets (and clouds) align, it's the visual equal of any of the more traditionally beautiful locales. On days like this travelers viewing the rectangular patterns from above are the poorer for the speed of their journey.
